107 Rewari villages hit by waterlogging, portal opened to register crop losses

The district administration has, in its survey, found 107 villages in the district affected by waterlogging caused by incessant rainfall during the monsoon season. The prolonged water stagnation has also led to significant damage to standing kharif crops in these areas.

According to the survey report, the worst-affected regions are Dharuhera and Palhawas followed by Bawal. The report notes that 37 villages in Dharuhera, 29 in Palhawas, 23 in Bawal, and 2 villages in Dahina tehsil have been impacted by waterlogging.

In response, the state government has opened the e-Kshatipurti Portal for the farmers from all 107 affected villages to register their crop loss claims. Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Meena stated that the portal would remain open until September 15 to ensure that the affected farmers can submit their claims in time.

“The claims received through the portal will be verified as a special girdawari (crop loss assessment) conducted by revenue officials. Based on the findings, the compensation will be released as per the government policy. We urge all affected farmers to submit their claims at the earliest,” he added.

Meanwhile, Samay Singh, district president of Bhartiya Kisan Union (Charuni), said that widespread crop damage had been reported from several villages due to continuous waterlogging.

“Our teams have been visiting the affected villages and speaking to farmers. Most of them have suffered major financial losses, particularly in bajra and cotton crops. The government must step in immediately and provide timely compensation to the affected farmers,” he said. Singh further said the union had submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner on Monday, urging prompt redressal of their concerns.

He also raised the issue of “incomplete” compensation from last year’s 2024–25 hailstorm damage, stating that while the compensation portal was opened at that time, only partial payments were made, and a large number of farmers were still waiting for the remaining amount.

“Despite repeated memorandums and several meetings, the government has failed to take any concrete action,” he claimed.

Singh warned that if the administration failed to act promptly, the farmers and labourers would stage a massive protest outside the DC office on September 12.
