12-year-old student behind bomb threat mail to Gurugram school

A student of a private school here allegedly sent a bomb threat e-mail to the institution in order to shift classes to online mode.

The police identified the student and registered a case in this regard at the Cyber Crime South police station on Saturday.

According to a spokesperson for the Gurugram police, a complaint was received from Shriram Millennium School, Sector 65, regarding a bomb threat e-mail on December 18. Acting on the complaint, a case was registered under relevant sections at the Cyber Crime South police station.

During investigation, Inspector Naveen Kumar, SHO of the Cyber Crime South police station, identified the sender of the threat email. During questioning, the 12-year-old boy revealed that he was a student of the same school and he had sent the bomb threat e-mail to switch the classes to online mode.

The student said he mistakenly sent the email without knowing its consequences. He has joined the investigation, said a senior cyber police official.
