13 booked over land dispute in Gurugram

The Gurugram police have registered an FIR against 13 persons, including a sub-registrar, registration clerks from the Ghaziabad and Sohna tehsils and two advocates, for allegedly seizing land through a fake General Power of Attorney (GPA) and fraudulent registration. The FIR was lodged at the Bhondsi police station on Friday.

• Sandeep, the complainant, accused his cousin, Jitender, a resident of Nayagaon near Sohna, of fraudulently obtaining a fake GPA from Ghaziabad and using it to register Sandeep’s land in his own name, in collusion with officials from the Sohna and Ghaziabad tehsils.

The complaint was filed by Sandeep Kumar, a resident of Karna village in Palwal district. Sandeep accused his cousin, Jitender, a resident of Nayagaon near Sohna, of fraudulently obtaining a fake GPA from Ghaziabad and using it to register Sandeep’s land in his own name, in collusion with officials from the Sohna and Ghaziabad tehsils. Despite the FIR being registered, Sandeep claimed that the accused continued to attempt to seize his shop and house near Sohna.

Sandeep explained that Jitender initially approached him, asking for a GPA for 110 square yards of land out of a total of approximately one acre, with the intention of selling it to Jagbed Singh of Ganaur in Sonepat. On February 22, a GPA was executed and registered at the office of the sub-registrar Sadar-V in Ghaziabad. Jitender called Sandeep to the sub-registrar’s office in Ghaziabad to sign the GPA, which Sandeep did in good faith. However, he later discovered that the documents he signed actually mentioned 6 kanals, 13 marlas and 7 sarsais.

According to Sandeep, the accused deliberately and illegally altered the original GPA by changing the area from 110 square yards to 6 kanals, 13 marlas and 7 sarsais. This allowed Jitender to gain authorisation to sell, register, or transfer the property to any third party. “I lodged a complaint with the Sohna tehsildar to stop the mutation, yet the same was entered in revenue record beside this application, which has been done with mala fide intention of the accused persons. They also showed some payments given through cheques in the documents, which are also forged,” Sandeep said. A senior police official said insvestigation was underway.
