Uniforms were distributed by Mayor Suman Bahmani, Chief Sanitary Inspector Anil Nain, and councillors Manu Singla and Pawan Pratap and in Yamunanagar on Saturday. The Mayor said uniforms would be distributed to employees in phases to ensure that cleaning work was not interrupted. She said all sanitation workers should carry out their work while wearing uniforms.

“Sanitation workers had been demanding uniforms for almost four years. After knowing about this issue, I assured them that their demand would be fulfilled,” Bahmani said.

She added that sanitation workers were imperative to fostering an environment of cleanliness in the district.

“Cleanliness is a service, and our sanitation workers are doing a great service to the country. They are helping prevent the spread of diseases,” the Mayor said.

With the cooperation of sanitation workers, the twin cities of Yamunanagar and Jagadhri had stood 47th in the country in terms of cleanliness, she added.
