1,503 cases settled in mediation camp

The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), in collaboration with the Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC) of the Supreme Court, successfully conducted the "Mediation for the Nation" campaign across India for a period of 90 days.

Under the guidance of Justice Surya Kant, Supreme Court judge, and Executive Chairman, NALSA & MCPC, the campaign aimed to promote mediation as an effective alternative dispute resolution mechanism.

The campaign witnessed participation from litigants, advocates, mediators, and members of the public. The initiative was implemented in coordination with all State Legal Services Authorities (SLSAs) and District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) throughout India.

In Haryana, the campaign was carried out under the leadership of Chief Justice Sheel Nagu, Patron-in-Chief, Haryana State Legal Services Authority, and Justice Lisa Gill, Executive Chairperson, Haryana State Legal Services Authority. All District Legal Services Authorities actively organised mediation sittings, awareness camps, and public interactions to promote peaceful settlement of disputes.

A large number of accident claim cases, matrimonial cases, commercial disputes, criminal compoundable cases, debt recovery cases, land acquisition cases, domestic violence cases, cheque-bouncing cases, and civil dispute cases were resolved amicably through mutual understanding.

In Haryana, 1,503 cases across various categories, pending for a long time in the district courts of Haryana, were settled. Moreover, 3,880 cases were settled at the pre-litigative stage through mediation, which were received from police stations, electricity departments, commercial disputes, etc.
