The number has increased without necessitating the beneficiaries to visit the office as department teams reached the houses of eligible beneficiaries, utilising the database of the Parivar Pehchan Patra. By accessing the database, the department successfully identified the eligible candidates who had not yet enrolled under the Social Security Pension Scheme. Unmarried male beneficiaries over 45 years of age with an annual income of up to Rs 1.80 lakh were also included.

Karnal District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) Satyawan Dhilorh elaborated on the process saying, “After obtaining the data regarding the age and annual income of the beneficiaries, our team members visited their residences and enrolling them under the scheme. They are now receiving pensions under various categories, including old-age, disabilities, widowers and unmarried males.”

Additionally, the pension categories such as widow, ladli, non-school going and financial assistance to destitute children require the completion of the forms at common service centers, SARAL kendras, antodaya bhawans and other designated channels.

According to the DSWO, with the inclusion of approximately 15,000 new beneficiaries without having to visit the office and an influx of additional 5,000 beneficiaries after the submission of forms, the current count has increased to 2.05 lakh. The team conducted a door-to-door campaign, reaching out to families across the district.
