17 more villages to get 24-hr power supply

The Haryana Government has extended the ‘Mhara Gaon Jagmag Gaon’ scheme to 17 more villages with the aim of providing 24-hour electricity to the rural areas of the state on the pattern of urban areas.

These villages include nine villages of Sonepat (Ratangarh, Jat Majra, Chitana, Bhatana, Garhi Hakikat, Karewari, Barwasni, Hullaheri and Dera), five of Rohtak (Kalinga, Kakrana, Baliana, Ghilor Kalan and Ghilor Khurd) and one village each of Panipat (Simla), Jhajjar (Majra) and Kaithal (Hajwana) districts.

Now, 5,287 villages of the state are getting 24-hour power supply under the ‘Mhara Gaon Jagmag Gaon’ scheme. Currently, 75 per cent of the villages in the state are receiving 24-hour electricity.

An official spokesperson said that the scheme was launched on July 1, 2015 by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar from Dayalpur village in Kurukshetra district.
