The police arrested a truck driver and seized 170 cartons of illicit liquor from his possession. The accused was trying to smuggle liquor from Faridabad to Gujarat via Gurugram.

According to the police, sub-inspector Deepak Kumar, in-charge of the Farrukhnagar crime unit, was patrolling on Sunday night. He got a tip-off that a truck loaded with illicit liquor will reach Gurugram area from KMP Expressway. The police set up a check post near Bilaspur. On seeing the police, the driver tried to flee. However, they managed to stop him.

During search, the police recovered a total of 170 cartons of English liquor from the vehicle. The police arrested the truck driver, identified as Ashiq, a resident of Baghola village in Nuh district. A case was registered at the Bilaspur police station.

“During interrogation of the truck driver, it was revealed that the liquor was meant to be smuggled from Faridabad to Gujarat. Further investigation was on in this regard,” said a spokesperson for the Gurugram police.
