The SIT, formed by the state government to probe the complaints of persons deported from the US recently, has registered 19 more FIRs against travel agents for duping youths on the pretext of sending them abroad.
Earlier, the police had registered 135 FIRs after the deporting of two batches of youths from the US in May and June. With these FIRs, the number of total FIRs has reached at 154.
In May, the police had registered 73 FIRs on the complaint of 76 persons deported by the US, while as many as 62 more cases were registered after 66 persons were deported from the US in June.
After the police action against such agents, the SIT is receiving complaints daily even from those who had been deported earlier also from other countries. “We have been receiving complaints daily from people who had been deported earlier as well,” said Bharti Arora, heading SIT and Karnal Range IG.
She said six SPs were the part of the SIT, who had been investigating new complaints. The SIT will also add the sections of human trafficking in these cases, Arora added.
