Thought-provoking Opinions, Expert Analysis, In-depth Insights and other Member Only BenefitsTwo men were found dead near a pond in Tajpur Tihar Khurd village of the district on Sunday under suspicious circumstances. The police also recovered a bottle of country-made liquor from the spot.
Villagers and family members suspect the two died after consuming spurious liquor. After receiving the information, a Sadar police team and a forensic unit arrived on the spot to inquire into the matter. The bodies were sent to the civil hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination.
The deceased have been identified as Om Prakash (62) and Satender (42) — both residents of the village in Sonepat.
Family members said they were seen drinking liquor by the pond. They demanded an inquiry into the matter about the sale of spurious liquor at local vends in the area.
DCP West Kushal Pal Singh stated that, prima facie, both men were habitual drinkers. Excise teams have been called and samples have been collected to analyse the liquor they consumed. Probe into the matter is underway on all possible angles, he added.
