Two persons were killed after a tractor overturned in fields near Chitana village.

The Mohana police have started a probe into the matter after inspecting the spot.

The deceased had been identified as Manoj (39) and Yogesh (25) of Chitana village in the district.

Sunil, brother of the deceased, in his complaint to the Mohana police, said Manoj, along with neighbour Yogesh, his associates Vikas and Manish of Assawarpur, were on way to the fields on Wednesday night.

According to a police spokesperson, Yogesh was driving the tractor when it overturned in the fields of Rajesh. Manoj and Yogesh were trapped under the tractor, while Vikas and Manish fell on the other side. They called for help and also informed family members of Manoj and Yogesh.

The family members, along with villagers, reached the spot at night and pulled the duo out. They immediately rushed them to the hospital, where doctors declared them dead.

According to the police, Yogesh was a mechanic and Manoj a farmer.

The Mohana police have initiated inquest proceedings under Section 194 of the BNSS and handed over the bodies to the kin after post-mortem examination.
