Two sanitary workers died due to asphyxiation after entering a manhole without safety guards to repair a sewer blockage in Nangal Chaudhary of the district yesterday.

The police have started investigation after registering a case against a Junior Engineer (JE) and computer operator posted at the local office of the Public Health and Engineering Department in connection with the incident.

The deceased, identified as Anup Kumar (28), a resident of Mohanpur, and Jogendra Kumar (30), from Dhani Bandhawali, were engaged as sanitation workers with the Public Health Department under the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam. They had been assigned the task of repairing sewer blockages in various wards of Nangal Choudhary area.
