A court today sentenced two men to five-year rigorous imprisonment along with a penalty of Rs 25,000 each for snatching a bag carrying cellphone, cash and some documents from a woman in a moving train at Mahendragarh city two years ago.

The Government Railway Police had on November 28, 2019, filed a case under the IPC against Dharambir of Alwar and Sandeep of Jhunjhunu district (Rajasthan) on the complaint of Meena Sharma.

As per the complaint, Meena, along with her husband, was travelling in a train from Sikkar (Rajasthan) to Delhi on November 27, 2019. A man snatched her purse as soon as the train halted at Mahendragarh. The man then handed over the purse to his accomplice and both jumped off the train. They boarded another train going to Loharu.

The railway police later nabbed the snatchers at Loharu. —TNS
