209 elderly, persons with disabilities cast votes in Yamunanagar district

As many as 209 elderly and persons with disabilities (PwDs) have cast their votes in Yamunanagar district. The Election Commission of India has provided home voting facility for the elderly and disabled voters. Voters aged above 85 and PwDs can avail the optional home voting facility.

As per information, there are a total of 215 elderly voters (aged above 85) and PwDs in all four Assembly constituencies — Sadhaura, Jagadhri, Yamunanagar and Radaur of Yamunanagar district.

“Out of the 215 elderly and PwDs voters, 209 persons had cast their votes. Four persons have died and two were not available at their homes,” said Gulshan Sharma, Naib Tehsildar (Election), Yamunanagar district.

District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Manoj Kumar said for the Haryana Assembly Election-2024, votes of all 209 elderly and PwDs were cast on September 26 and 27.

He said that 12 polling parties went to the homes of these voters in all four constituencies of the district and got their votes cast through postal ballot.

He added that the said voting process was recorded and the secrecy of voting was maintained.
