241 get degrees at college convocation
Annual convocation of Mukand Lal National College
Yamunanagar: In all, 241 students of undergraduate and postgraduate courses were awarded degrees during the annual convocation of Mukand Lal National College. Dr Anil Dhawan, Principal of the college, presented the annual report, highlighting the academic and co-curricular achievements of the institution. The convocation address was delivered by Prof Sushil Kumar Tomar, Vice-Chancellor, JC Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad. He emphasised that the main objective of educationists was to provide skilled human resources to organisations. He stressed on the need for continuous learning, research and innovation for teachers and also on nurturing a spirit of questioning among students. He asserted that innovation and original ideas were crucial for success. Meritorious students of the university level were honoured with cash prizes for their outstanding academic achievements.
Workshop on emotional intelligence
Sonepat: A thought-provoking workshop on emotional intelligence was organised at the Sports University of Haryana, Rai. On the occasion, university Vice-Chancellor Ashok Kumar described emotional intelligence as a crucial ability that enables individuals not only to recognise and understand their own emotions, but also express and manage them effectively. He emphasised that understanding others emotions and responding with empathy was an essential aspect of the emotional intelligence. He underscored that the ability to interpret emotions and respond in a balanced manner was a key to success in every sphere of life. He elaborated on the five core pillars of emotional intelligence - self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills. During his lecture, he also shared practical tips for daily life, such as taking a pause before reacting and maintaining emotional balance through regular physical exercise.
Extension lecture on cybercrime
Kurukshetra: The legal literacy cell of Dayanand Mahila Mahavidyalaya organised an extension lecture on "Cybercrime-secure your digital world" in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority. The main objective of organising extension lecture was to raise awareness about online safety and to educate students about risks associated with cybercrime. The extension lecture aimed to promote safe online practice and encourage responsible behaviour on the Internet. The resource person of the lecture was Pooja, Sub-Inspector, cybercrime, Kurukshetra. She shared her expertise and insights with students while emphasising on the growing prevalence and seriousness of cybercrime. She urged students about importance of strong cyber security measures, both for individuals and organisation and the need for legal frameworks to address cybercrime effectively. Dr Upasana Ahuja, college Principal, while addressing participants said students must protect themselves from cybercrimes and avoid clicking on links and attachments coming from unknown sources. Fifty students attended the lecture.
Two university students get Rs 5 lakh package
Hisar: Two final-year students from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology (GJUST), have secured placements with Unthinkable Solutions Pvt Ltd (a Daffodil Group company) during a campus recruitment drive. The selected students, Gurudev and Vishal Kumar Gupta, from BTech (CSE-AIML) batch of 2025, have been offered a package of Rs five lakh per annum (LPA). The placement drive was organised by the university’s training and placement cell. Vice-Chancellor Prof Narsi Ram Bishnoi congratulated the students. He emphasised on the university’s dedication to equip students with modern education and practical exposure for success in the corporate world. Registrar Dr Vijay Kumar also conveyed his best wishes to the selected candidates. During the pre-placement talk, HR representative Deepika Boora introduced the company’s values and operations. She highlighted that Unthinkable Solutions was recognised for its data-driven software engineering and works with over 100 technology-centric firms globally. She stressed on the company’s focus on continuous learning, innovation and fostering entrepreneurial qualities among its employees. Dr Aditya Vir Singh, Assistant Director, said the selection process included a written test, technical interview and final interview, following an initial offline orientation session. Out of 84 participating students from the CSE Department, two were selected, he said.Dr Pratap Singh, Director (Placements), expressed gratitude to Deepika Boora for conducting the placement drive and acknowledged support of Prof Om Parkash Sangwan, Chairperson, CSE Department, and Dr Pawan Kumar, training and placement coordinator.
