The Jind police have arrested three members of a gang on extortion and blackmail charges. The gang was blackmailing an SHO of Jind police by levelling false allegations of sexual harassment against him. Narwana Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) conducted an investigation into the matter, during which the allegations levelled by the gang members were found to be fake. The police arrested three persons, including a woman identified as Sapna, Bijender Mor, and Neeraj. The police said that they were operating as a gang that lodged a false complaint on the basis of an obscene video that was sent to senior police officials.

The police spokesperson said that the Jind police had received complaints of sexual harassment against an SHO. A video was sent to senior officials as part of the complaint. During the investigation, it transpired that the video did not feature any police personnel from Jind, and it had actually been downloaded from a pornographic website.

The complainant, in the case against the SHO, had identified herself as Shivani from Jind and had levelled allegations of sexual harassment and rape on December 31.

The police formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) that was set up to probe the complaint. The SIT revealed that Bijender Mor, a resident of Jajanwala, had personal grievances because of a land dispute against the SHO. He, along with his accomplice Rajkumar and others, hatched a plan to falsely implicate the SHO and tarnish his reputation.

Jind SP Rajesh Kumar said following the completion of the inquiry, the police had registered a case under Sections 308(6), 356(2), 231, and 61 of the BNS against the three persons and arrested them.
