Three minor boys drowned in Somb river, a seasonal rivulet, near Fatehgarh village in Yamunanagar district on Sunday reportedly while taking a bath in the river.

The boys were taken out from the river by divers. Two boys had died in the river, while the third boy was taken to Mukand Lal District Civil Hospital, Yamunanagar by Narsingh, SHO of Buria police station, in his car. But he was declared dead at the hospital.

According to the information available, some boys were reportedly taking a bath in the Somb river near the bridge situated at Fatehgarh village at noon today. Three of them suddenly went missing in the deep water. Someone informed the police, which called the divers.

SHO Narsingh said one victim had been identified as Pawan Kumar (15) of Buria town of the district. After the post-mortem examination, Pawan’s body was handed over to his kin.

The bodies of the other two boys, aged 15-16 years, were yet to be identified. They had been kept at the mortuary of the Civil Hospital, Yamunanagar.
