Two miscreants sustained bullet injuries and have been admitted to the PGIMS, Rohtak.
The accused have been identified as Navdeep and Sandeep of Vikas Nagar and Deepak of Ramrai village in Jind district. Navdeep and Sandeep were injured in the encounter.
SP Bhupender Singh said the accused were wanted in a shooting incident that took place at Vikas Nagar in October. The case has been handed over to Inspector Vijay, incharge (CIA-1), and his team.
The team received a tip-off that the miscreants wanted in the firing case were on their way to Panipat on a motorcycle without a number plate, and were using link roads.
The team immediately set up a naka near Shahpur. Upon spotting a motorcycle, the police team signalled it to stop, but the youths quickly turned the bike towards another road. The police chased them, and the miscreants started firing at them.
In retaliation, the police team also opened fire and the accused fell on the road. Two of them sustained bullet injuries. The team nabbed all three and recovered three pistols and six cartridges from their possession.
The miscreants opened four rounds of fire on the police team, and the police also fired four rounds, the SP said, adding that crime and criminals would not be tolerated in the district.
If any criminal surrenders, human rights rules would be followed; but if a criminal fired a bullet, the police would, too, he warned.
A case has been registered against the accused at Israna police station under various Sections of BNS. Deepak was produced before the court, which sent him on a three-day police remand, the SP added.
