Jhajjar, August 27
Three ‘criminals,’ wanted in connection with the abduction and murder of a Delhi youth, were held by the police after an encounter near the Barahi level crossing in Bahadurgarh town here on Wednesday.
According to officials, the accused also sustained bullet injuries to their legs during the exchange of fire. Three firearms were also recovered from them, they added.
They have been admitted to Trauma Center in Bahadurgarh for treatment, said officials.
The accused identified as Sunil and Ankit of Rohad village and Vikas of Dehkhora village, were wanted for allegedly abducting and killing a Delhi youth about 12 days ago, police said.
According to sources, a team of Bahadurgarh CIA-2 got a tip-off about the three accused at around 5:30 am following which they were chased on the Barahi road.
Bahadurgarh ACP (Crime) Pradeep Nain said that on August 16, a youth had come to ITI Sampla from Delhi to take an examination.
He said four men kidnapped the victim there and demanded a ransom of Rs 5 lakh from his family. When the criminals came to receive the ransom amount, the police managed to arrest one of them while three others managed to flee.
Meanwhile, the accused ‘strangled the youth to death’ and allegedly dumped his body in a canal passing near Rohtak's Karor village, after tying his hands and legs, said the officer.
Further investigation is under way in the case, he added.
