Identified as Shahrukh, a resident of Jawahar Colony, the victim was riding his two-wheeler around 10 PM when he lost control and fell into the sewage-filled drain. Reports suggest that he accelerated too hard, causing his scooty to veer off course and crash into the drain.

Despite efforts by a friend who rushed to help, the victim’s body was recovered after nearly an hour and a half with the help of a JCB machine. The police, upon receiving an alert via the helpline number, arrived at the scene and later transferred the body to the hospital.

An official confirmed that the cause of death was drowning. This marks the second such tragedy in the past six months.

On September 13 last year, two employees of a private bank drowned after their vehicle got submerged in a waterlogged underpass.
