Ambala: 34 centres to enrol 752 out-of-school kids

As many as 752 out-of-school children have been identified in Ambala, who will be now enrolled in 34 special training centres in the district, where the education volunteers will impart special training to them for nine months.

After completing a bridge-course and acquiring grade-level competence, the children (aged seven to 14) will be enrolled in age-appropriate class.

Sudhir Kalra, district project coordinator, Samagra Shikhsa, said: “A door-to-door survey was conducted by the team under the Haryana School Shiksha Pariyojna Parishad, in which 752 out-of-school children have been identified. Majority of the children belong to migrant families, so the volunteers will motivate their parents to keep sending their wards to schools, even if they move to any other district.”

The official said the identified children include school dropouts and those, who quit studies due to different reasons. First of all, a baseline test will be conducted and as per the report of the tests, the children will be provided education material.

“Every centre will accommodate up to 25 children. A training camp for the volunteers will also be organised. These children will be provided school bags, uniforms and mid-day meal, and their names will be uploaded on the Project Appraisal, Budgeting, Achievements and Data Handling System (PRABANDH), under the Samagra Shiksha. Attendance and progress report will also be uploaded on the portal,” said Kalra.
