Authorities believe that Mahender, the man whom Usha was reportedly in a live-in relationship with, is the primary suspect and is currently on the run. Police were alerted to the scene after receiving reports of a woman lying in a pool of blood inside her rented accommodation.

Following the information, the police reached the spot.

Upon arrival, officers discovered Usha’s body with apparent signs of foul play; preliminary investigations indicated that she had been murdered with a sharp-edged weapon, having suffered a fatal throat injury. The police reached the spot and recovered the dead body and sent it to the mortuary at the civil hospital for postmortem examination.

It also came to the fore that Usha’s husband had previously died and she started living with Mahender at the rented accommodation in the colony.
