Last evening, the police received information that a fight had broken out between two groups in Fatehpuri Colony, resulting in the death of two youths.
DSP Dalip Kumar, Old Sabzi Mandi Police Station SHO Sub-Inspector Sushil Kumar, two CIA staff teams and an FSL team rushed to the scene of crime and began investigation.
Sumit, a resident of Fatehpuri Colony, who was shot in the incident was taken to PGIMS, Rohtak, where doctors declared him dead. Another youth, Manish, also from Fatehpuri Colony, was found dead at the scene.
Manish was beaten to death with sharp-edged weapons, axes and sticks. Rohtak SP Surinder Singh Bhoria said the police were conducting a thorough investigation into the matter. A preliminary probe indicates that some old rivalry led to the double murder.
“Holding on to the old grudge, the two groups clashed on Wednesday evening. Manish fired two rounds at Sumit from his licensed pistol. The other group attacked Manish with sharp-edged weapons and sticks,” said a statement issued by the Police Department. Taking a swift action, the police rounded up four suspects late last night.
The youths are being thoroughly interrogated about the incident.
Meanwhile, the bodies of the youths have been handed over to their families after post-mortem examination.
Police personnel have been deployed in the area to maintain law and order.
The SP stated that Rohtak Police will study all ongoing cases of personal enmity in the district.
“In cases of personal enmity, both parties will be interviewed and monitored. If necessary, strict action will be taken to prevent such incidents in future,” the SP added.
