400 cases of illicit liquor seized in Jind’s Narwana

The Narwana (Jind) CIA have seized a major cache of illicit liquor, arresting one accused. A container truck carrying about 400 cases of illegal English liquor, said to be worth Rs 20 lakhs, was seized by the police.

A CIA team, led by Narwana CIA in-charge Sukhdev Singh, apprehended a liquor smuggler near Narwana along with the container truck.

The arrested accused has been identified as Dharamvir, son of Chhotu Ram and a resident of Sisar Karbala village in Hisar district.

A police spokesperson said, during patrol duty, CIA ASI Ramesh’s team received a tip-off that Dharamvir, who used to smuggle liquor from Punjab at cheaper rates to Rajasthan, Gujarat and Bihar, was transporting a large quantity of illegal liquor.

The tip-off indicated that he was travelling in a container truck heading from Jind to Narwana, and then towards Hisar and Rajasthan.

The CIA team then set up a blockade near Radhaswami Dera. Soon after, a container truck appeared.

When the CIA team signalled for the vehicle to stop, the accused attempted to flee, but was swiftly caught by the CIA team.

During the search of the vehicle, the team discovered 400 cases of illicit English liquor.

The liquor was being smuggled from Punjab to Rajasthan, with plans to transport it further to Gujarat. The seized liquor is valued at approximately Rs 20 lakhs, the spokesperson said.

A case under various sections of the Excise Act and BNS was registered at the Narwana City police station, and further investigation was underway, the spokesperson added.
