In Odhan block of Sirsa district, a park that has been under construction for over five years remains unfinished, much to the frustration of local residents. Intended to enhance the area’s beauty and provide a safe recreational space, the park has yet to serve its intended purpose. The project was initially planned during the tenure of former village sarpanch Babu Ram Gedar.

Situated near the waterhouse on the Sirsa-Sangaria Road in Nuhianwali village, approximately 2 kanals of land were allocated for the park. Around Rs 9.5 lakh was spent on constructing a boundary wall, iron grills, and an interlocking road within the park. However, essential amenities such as swings, cement benches, trees, grass, and lighting have not been installed, leaving the park in a state of incompleteness.

Currently, the park is neglected, with damaged walls and an area overgrown with weeds and bushes, rendering it unusable for the public.

When approached for comments, former sarpanch Babu Ram Gedar stated that the park’s initial construction began during his tenure around November 21, 2019, acknowledging that while funds were allocated for the project, he could not recall the exact amount spent.

Current sarpanch Sunita Devi mentioned that there is no information on the previous expenditures as it falls under the past administration. She did, however, indicate that an estimate for the park’s renovation has been submitted.

The community remains hopeful that local authorities will soon take action to complete the park, transforming it into a usable space for public enjoyment.
