Gurugram, June 13

With monsoon around the corner, the Gurugram traffic police have prepared a detailed traffic management plan for the monsoon. The police have identified 50 key spots prone to waterlogging.

The police will be deputing 2,500 police personnel around these areas. The police have demanded 25 cranes and 10 tractors to deal with traffic congestions during the monsoon.

The teams of Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) and National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) have jointly organised a mock drill at the Hero Honda Chowk and Rajiv Chowk to avoid waterlogging in underpasses during the monsoon season in Gurugram. The traffic police will also take necessary measure to avoid last year’s situation when the people and vehicles were stuck in traffic jams for hours .

The 24 key spots out of 50 are Shankar Chowk, Atlas Chowk, Iffco Chowk, Signature Tower underpass, Sector 31, Jharsa Chowk, Rajiv Chowk underpass, Hero Honda Chowk underpass, Vatika Chowk, Subhash Chowk, Bata Chowk, Atul Kataria Chowk, Huda City Centre, Hanuman Chowk, Ghata More, Kherki Daula toll plaza, Rampura Chowk, IMT Chowk in Manesar, Panchgaon Chowk, Bilaspur Chowk, Kapriwas, Himgiri Chowk, Sector10, Ambedkar Chowk in Sohna and Jamalpur in Pataudi. “To avoid waterlogging during the monsoon, we have already prepared a plan. While 2,500 police personnel will be posted on these key spots we have also demanded 25 cranes and 10 tractors from the MC. We are trying to ensure that there are no traffic congestions during the coming days”, said Ravinder Singh Tomar, DCP, traffic.
