He said this drive was carried out under guidance of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal and the main objective was to tighten the noose on drunken drivers.

“It is often seen that many people drive vehicles in an inebriated condition during the night hours. As a result, they not only put themselves in danger but also become a threat to other commuters on the road,” said Chamkaur.

SP Goyal said they had been running campaigns to make people aware of traffic rules. He appealed to the residents not to drive vehicles after consuming alcohol.

He said such drives would be held in near future as well and those breaking traffic guidelines would be dealt with sternly.
