A 57-year-old woman from Preet Nagar, Sirsa, has tested positive for Covid-19, making it the second confirmed case in the district. According to the Health Department, the woman had arrived from Delhi two days ago.

Doctors conducted a rapid Covid test after she complained of cold and cough. The test results confirmed she was infected with the virus. Although she is not in a serious condition, the medical team has advised strict home isolation as a precaution for her.

The woman is currently under home care. The Health Department also collected samples of her family members who were in close contact with her. Their test results are awaited.

This case follows an earlier one in which a man from Sirsa had tested positive for Covid. He, too, was in home isolation, and his family members were tested. Fortunately, their results came negative for the disease.

The authorities have urged residents to remain alert and follow safety guidelines, especially those returning from outside the district or major cities. The Health Department continues to monitor the situation closely and is prepared to take further measures if needed.

Chief Medical Officer Dr MK Bhadu informed that currently, two patients had tested positive for Covid in Sirsa. Both individuals had a travel history, and after returning to Sirsa, they developed symptoms such as fever, cough and cold, he said. They tested positive following medical examinations, he said, while adding that however, there was no need to panic.

Dr Bhadu said both patients were in home isolation. He also assured that all Covid-related arrangements were fully in place at the Civil Hospital. Isolation wards had been set up, the oxygen plant was functional and all other necessary facilities were available at the hospital, he said. He emphasised that instead of being fearful of Covid, people should remain alert and take proper precautions to avoid contracting the virus.
