The Nuh police have registered a case against six persons for allegedly making objectionable remarks on social media against Congress MLA from Ferozpur Jhirka Mamman Khan. The case was filed based on a complaint lodged by the MLA’s brother at the Nagina police station.

The complaint alleges that the accused not only made derogatory comments targeting the legislator but also circulated false and defamatory content on various social media platforms. Khan has been targeted for the past many days with social media accusations of him supporting slaughterhouses.

It further escalated on Friday after a protest was held at the Nuh grain market against illegal slaughterhouses. Mamman Khan publicly lashed out at social media users critical of him. “I am fighting for a cause and have even made complaints to the pollution control board. Those who run social media campaigns have no standing. They are nothing more than touts. In other parts of Haryana, people respect their leaders. But Facebook users in Mewat are a different breed altogether.” said Khan.

He also dismissed allegations of getting any favours from slaughterhouse owners.

The anti-slaughterhouse meeting, intended to be a citizen-led protest, quickly turned into a political battlefield. INLD leader Habib Hawanagar took a veiled dig at MLA Khan, saying, “Take your politics home. There is no need to flaunt political muscle here or threaten any of our workers. We are here united against slaughterhouses not for anyone’s personal agenda.” The police have confirmed the registration of an FIR and said an investigation was underway.
