The dead body of a six-year-old girl was found lying at a sugarcane field in a village falling under the Chhachhrauli police station of Yamunanagar district. The family members suspected that the girl was killed by a man of their village after sexually abusing her.

The girl went missing last evening while playing outside her house in the village.

Ganga Ram Punia, Superintendent of Police, Yamunanagar, told The Tribune that the police got information that a six-year-old of a village falling under Chhachhrauli police station, had gone missing. He said after getting information, a search operation was immediately started and the body of the girl was found lying in a sugarcane field of the village late at night.

He further said that prima-facie, it seemed that the girl was murdered. He said that it would be known after the post-mortem whether the girl was sexually abused. Before the postmortem, the kin and villagers blocked the road in front of Civil Hospital, demanding immediate arrest of the accused.

The SP said a suspect, Rajesh (25), belonging to the village of the deceased, had been arrested in connection with the death. “The suspect shall be produced before the court on Sunday,” the SP said.
