The District Town Planning Department has identified 60 illegal colonies in the district and erected boards there warning people not to purchase properties in these colonies. Besides, they have displayed lists of these colonies in all tehsils of the district, making people aware not to get lured by dealers selling properties in these colonies.

The authorities warned people not to construct building in these colonies as they would be razed. The District Town Planner (DTP) asked tehsildars and naib tehsildars to ensure that the registry of these colonies should not be done in future without NoC from their office.

“We have identified 60 illegal colonies in various parts of the district. As many as 29 illegal colonies have been earmarked in and around Karnal city, Mangalpur, Phoosgarh, Kachwa, Pundrak, Ghoghripur, Kambopura, Newal, Zarifa Farm, Nagla Megha and Budhakhera,” said Vikram Kumar, DTP.

“Tehsildars and naib tehsildars of various tehsils have been asked not to do registry in these colonies without any NoC from us,” he added.
