Prior to this, they performed rituals and prayed for the smooth conduct of the crushing season. Cooperation Minister Dr Arvind Sharma attended the event virtually through videoconferencing.

In his virtual address, Sharma said farmers celebrated the start of the crushing season of the sugar mill like a festival. “Both Central and State governments have taken several steps for the welfare of farmers. Whenever Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits Haryana, he praises the contributions of the state’s soldiers, farmers, and wrestlers. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has increased the price of sugarcane to Rs 415 per quintal (early variety) in the state,” he added.

The minister said that soon after discussions with the Chief Minister, payment for the farmers’ crop dues was released. He said the sugar mill exported 99 lakh (9.9 million) units of electricity last year, generating an income of Rs 7.35 crore. He instructed the managing director to maintain regular communication with the farmers and ensure their issues were resolved. He also directed that high-quality food be provided to the farmers in the Atal Kisan Mazdoor Canteen.

Former Cooperation Minister Manish Kumar Grover and the mill’s managing director Shweta Suhag were among those present on the occasion.
