8.78 lakh eligible voters to cast vote in Ambala

Over 8.78 lakh people are eligible to vote in the upcoming Assembly elections in Ambala district.
As per data procured, of over 8.78 lakh voters, while around 4.61 lakh voters are male, over 4.16 lakh are female, while 43 voters are registered as third gender.
While Ambala City Assembly segment has the maximum of 2.6 lakh voters, including 1.35 lakh male, 1.24 lakh female and 20 third gender voters, followed by Mullana Assembly segment with 2.23 lakh voters, including 1.18 lakh male, 1.04 lakh female and three third gender voters, Ambala Cantonment with 2.03 lakh voters including 1.06 lakh male, over 97,000 female and 11 third gender voters, and Naraingarh assembly segment with 1.91 lakh voters including over 1 lakh male, around 90,000 female and nine third gender voters.
Of the total voters, 6,255 are persons with disability, 11,142 are above 85 years of age while 521 voters are over 100 years of age. The district has 52 overseas and 3,919 service voters. There are 16,744 voters in the age group of 18-19 years. There will 968 stations in the district where the voters will cast their votes.
Deputy Commissioner, Ambala, Parth Gupta said, “All preparations are being made to conduct the elections in a peaceful and transparent manner. Duties have been assigned to the officials and employees regarding the election. Directions have been already issued to the officials and political parties to ensure that all rules of the model code of conduct are strictly followed.”
Similarly, in Kurukshetra, over 7.7 lakh people are eligible to cast their vote in the district.
While Thanesar constituency has the maximum voters (2.16 lakh), followed by Ladwa (1.95), Pehowa (1.86 lakh) and Shahabad (1.71 lakh).
As many as 810 polling stations (619 in rural areas and 201 in urban areas) have been identified for the voters for the Assembly election. Of the total, the Ladwa Assembly segment has the maximum of 217 stations, followed by 204 each in Thanesar and Pehowa and 185 in Shahabad.
As per the district administration, there are 2,244 service voters in the district.
Deputy Commissioner, Kurukshetra, Sushil Sarwan said, “Preparations are underway for the Assembly elections and nodal officers have already been appointed for various committees to conduct the election in a fair and smooth manner. Webcasting will be done for all 810 polling stations to keep a close watch on all activities.”
217 polling stations in Ladwa segment
As many as 810 polling stations (619 in rural areas and 201 in urban areas) have been identified for the voters for the Assembly election. Of the total, the Ladwa Assembly segment has the maximum 217 stations, followed by 204 each in Thanesar and Pehowa and 185 in Shahabad.
