With AAP national convener and former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal expected to take the reins of campaigning for the Assembly poll from September 20, the party is upbeat about making it to the Vidhan Sabha.

Though AAP managed to put up a good fight in the Lok Sabha elections in Kurukshetra by leading in four (Pehowa, Shahabad, Kalayat, and Guhla) of the nine Assembly segments, the party leaders face a daunting task in the Assembly poll.

Largely banking on the anti-incumbency against the BJP and Kejriwal’s appeal, the party suffered an early setback with the alliance talks with the Congress. Since the Congress and the BJP are locked in a direct contest on the majority of the seats, AAP is only likely to dent their vote banks.

Political analysts believe that with Kejriwal out of jail and relieved of CM’s responsibility, he can now devote more time in Haryana and boost AAP’s prospects.
