AAP urges govt to match Punjab’s flood relief package

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday submitted a memorandum to the Sirsa Deputy Commissioner, urging the Haryana government to provide flood compensation on the lines of the Punjab model. District president Happy Rania, along with party leaders Jasdev Singh Nikka, Shyam Lal Mehta, Raj Singh Kang, Balwinder Brar, Kavita Nagar, Dr Sukesh Arora and others, highlighted that the 2025 monsoon floods have severely affected thousands of families, particularly farmers and rural communities. Many lost their homes, standing crops and livestock.
AAP leaders pointed out that while the state government has announced compensation of Rs 4 lakh for death, Rs 7,000–15,000 per acre for crop damage, Rs 1.2–1.5 lakh for destroyed houses, and Rs 20,000–30,000 per animal, these amounts fall short of the needs of flood victims.

By comparison, the Punjab government has provided a far more generous relief package, including Rs 20,000 per acre for crop loss, Rs 10 lakh for house reconstruction, and royalty-free permission to sell sand and silt deposited in farmland until November 15, 2025.
AAP demanded that Haryana raise crop compensation to Rs 20,000 per acre, provide Rs 10 lakh for fully damaged homes, and allow royalty free removal and sale of sand deposited in farmlands.
