Karnal: People believe that Karnal is associated with Mahabharata character Raja Karna. It is said that in olden times, there was a natural water body at the site of Karan Taal and it was surrounded by temples. Raja Karna used to offer prayers after a bath at the ghats of the ‘taal’. A pillar erected by the then Bansi Lal government at the entrance to the park states that it was the place where Karna used to donate 125 kg gold every morning.
