State Agriculture Minister Kanwar Pal Gujjar suspended a Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) and a Junior Engineer (JE) of Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) after they allegedly failed to attend ‘Janta Darbar’ held by him at Khadri village in the district today.

SDO Kamal Panra and JE Krishan Saini are posted at the Chhachhrauli office of the UHBVN.

Sources said some people reached the camp with problems related to the electricity department. When the minister asked officers of the electricity department to come forward, there was no one to represent the department.

Enraged, the minister ordered the suspension of SDO Kamal Panra and JE Krishan Saini. The minister said that he had received complaints against the said SDO and JE. “The SDO and JE were absent from the Janta Darbar when they were called. They reached two hours later, which is sheer negligence,” said Gujjar.

He said the villagers told him that the duo weren’t in their office and didn’t listen to their complaints.

“The officers have been instructed to do works of the public on priority. If anyone shows negligence in discharging his duty, action will be taken against him,” said the minister.
