Additional Chief Secretary Health Sudhir Rajpal on Monday inspected the venues for the state-level International Yoga Day celebrations to be held on June 21.

Sudhir Rajpal inspected Brahma Sarovar and Mela Ground and also gave necessary guidelines to the district officials.

Rajpal said many new records would be created at the International Yoga Day Mahotsav in Kurukshetra. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will be the chief guest and yoga guru Swami Ramdev will preside over the event. About 1 lakh yoga practitioners will set a record by performing yoga together for which the Brahma Sarovar and Mela Ground will be divided into 100 sectors.

The ACS said children from government and private schools, and members of yoga organisations would participate in the event.

Rajpal said school students would also participate. The yoga mahotsav has to be made a people’s programme and the entire district should participate in it enthusiastically. People should make yoga an integral part of life.

Rajpal instructed Deputy Commissioner Neha Singh to hold separate meetings with officials, educational institutions, police, panchayats, NGOs and institutions and assign duties. A final rehearsal will be organised on June 19, so that if there is any kind of shortcoming, it can be addressed in time. He instructed the police to ensure parking arrangements for the vehicles of the yoga practitioners coming there.

Yoga Commission Chairman Dr Jaideep Arya said that the practitioners were being taught yoga in 22 districts. Meanwhile, 500 yoga instructors have been called to Kurukshetra from other districts. They will organise five-day yoga camps in 422 villages and 122 wards urban areas from June 8. The yoga practitioners from every village of the district will participate.

Neha Singh said t a sanitation drive would be launched on the Mela Ground. The drive will be conducted by the Kurukshetra Development Board and the Municipal Council. The officials of the KDB and the municipal council will ensure that the sanitation drive is completed in a time-bound manner. Directions regarding cleanliness of Brahma Sarovar and other urban areas have already been issued to the municipal council.

Former Minister of State Subhash Sudha, Superintendent of Police Nitish Agarwal, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sonu Bhatt were present during the inspection.
