Continuing its action against ‘illegal’ dairies, which are being operated in the city and yet to shift to Pingli Dairy complex, on the outskirts of the city, the Karnal Municipal Corporation (KMC) on Friday took action against five dairies operating in the Sadar Bazar area. Despite being allotted plots at Pingli complex, they had neither constructed dairies there nor shifted their units outside the city, prompting the authorities to take action. The authorities sealed one dairy and impounded four animals of two others .

Vaishali Sharma, Commissioner, KMC, said a dairy owned by Charanjit was sealed, while four animals from the dairies belonging to Naveen Kumar and Rajendra were impounded and a fine of Rs 40,000 was imposed on them. Besides, another dairy owner Vijay has been given 24 hours and dairy owner Kela Devi was given three days to shift their dairies to Pingli, otherwise their dairies will also be sealed.

The Commissioner said they had served notices to nine dairy owners at Sadar Bazar, after which four of them shifted to Pingli Dairy complex, but five continued delaying despite repeated instructions.

“The sealing was carried out under Section 333 of the Haryana Municipal Corporation Act, 1994, while animal wasimpounded under Section 332 of the same Act,” the Commissioner added.

She assured that all impounded animals were tagged on-site by the Animal Husbandry Department team to maintain proper records, before being sent to the gaushala in Phoosgarh.

Sharma emphasised that such action was necessary to maintain cleanliness and order in the city. “When dairies operate within the city limits, they cause sewer blockages and inconvenience to nearby residents. No dairy will be allowed to run inside the city. Those who fail to shift to Pingli Dairy complex will face strict action, including sealing and impounding of animal,” she said.

The drive was led by Deputy Municipal Commissioner Abhe Singh, Duty Magistrate and Executive Engineer (XEN) OP Kardam, with a heavy police force. The team members had to break the lock of a dairy, after he failed to reach the spot and impound his animals.
