Agri college to be made in Yamunanagar in name of Guru: CM

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced that an agriculture college would be built in Pratap Nagar (Kishanpura village) of Yamunanagar district on 45 acres in the name of Guru Tegh Bahadur.

“Whenever the names of those who sacrificed their lives for the protection of the nation and religion are mentioned, Guru Tegh Bahadur’s name is taken foremost. To inspire future generations, the 350th martyrdom year is being observed across the state,” said the CM.

The Chief Minister today inaugurated the Forest, Wildlife and Biodiversity Conservation Block named after the Guru near Kalesar village (situated close to Kalesar National Park) in Yamunanagar district. He planted 350 saplings with students in the block.

He also inaugurated the safari trail in the national park and unveiled the Guru Tegh Bahadur Gate.

The Chief Minister also laid foundation stones for an AI-based monitoring tower, a tree canopy walk and three-level watchtowers.

He also announced the feasibility of the Kapal Mochan–Yamunanagar bypass road and its construction. He said that in Indian culture, forests had been centres of education, meditation and public welfare.

He said that the ashram tradition and the guru tradition had always been based on nature.

He said that under the unique campaign ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on World Environment Day on June 5, 2024, a total of 1.87 crore saplings were planted.

“Under the second phase this year, another 2.1 crore saplings have been planted. Since 2014, a total of 18 crore trees have been planted,” said Chief Minister.

He said that children must be connected with nature from childhood so they could easily understand the importance of trees as they grow. “Every school should adopt nature education and every family must plant at least one sapling,” said the Chief Minister.

On this occasion, Haryana Agriculture Minister Shyam Singh Rana, Yamunanagar MLA Ghanshyam Das Arora, BJP state vice-president Banto Kataria, former minister Kanwar Pal Gujjar, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Vineet Garg, Chief Wildlife Warden Dr Vivek Saxena, Chairman of Haryana State Biodiversity Board Randeep Singh Jauhar and OSD to CM Prabhleen Singh were present.
