Ahead of Diwali, over 1L lights to brighten up Gurugram areas

Ahead of Diwali, the Gurugram Municipal Corporation (MC) has launched an extensive lighting project to brighten public areas with over 1,10,000 new street lights, 4,590 poles adorned with tricolour lights, lighting in 450 parks, and the installation of 220 high-mast lights.

MCG Chief Engineer Manoj Kumar stated on Friday that he has instructed the electrical wing to ensure all street and park lights are fully functional before Diwali. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini recently requested the MC to refurbish street and park lighting across the city.

Kumar assured that no street or road within the city’s municipal limits, including those in surrounding villages, would remain unlit. “We aim to cover every corner of the city to ensure every area has properly functioning lights,” he said.

Addressing past complaints of non-functional lights in parks, the MC will fix existing issues and add new lights based on demand from resident welfare associations. In addition, tricolour lighting on 4,590 poles will reflect a sense of nationalism, building upon last year’s efforts where similar lights were installed.
