Rewari, February 15

The stage is all set for the arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to lay the foundation stone of the much-awaited AIIMS project in Majra-Bhalkhi village on Friday and Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today reached the venue to take stock of the preparations being made for the PM’s visit.

Elaborate security arrangements have been made, and separate parking lots for vehicles have been set up on the Rewari, Bawal and Narnaul-Mahendragarh roads for visitors.

The AIIMS project was announced by PM Modi in February 2019 ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

Though the state government had already bought around 200 acres of land from residents of Majra and Bhalkhi villages at a rate of Rs 40 lakh per acre, along with the release of a tender for design, engineering, procurement and construction of the project, the foundation stone was yet to be laid.

PM Modi would also inaugurate the Rohtak-Meham-Hansi railway line and lay the foundation stone of other development projects through virtual mode.

An exhibition describing the developments in the state over the past nine-and-a-half years has also been organised, with a display of models and information on the projects — the foundation stone of which would be laid by PM Modi tomorrow.

According to sources, roadway buses from Jhajjar, Mahendragarh, Nuh and Gurugram had been arranged for the residents of these areas to reach the venue. “The inauguration and foundation stone laying ceremony will be broadcast live and watched on big LEDs in 75 assembly segments of 18 districts of the state. Administrative authorities of the districts concerned have been directed to make adequate arrangements for the same. Ministers, MPs and MLAs will participate as chief guests at the district levels and they will also honour beneficiaries of various schemes,” sources said.
