Ambala youth shot dead in US

A robber shot dead a 29-year-old youth from Lotton village of Naraingarh, who was working at a store in Indianapolis, US.

The deceased has been identified as Maninder Singh. He was unmarried.

As per the information, Maninder went to the US nine years ago and had been working there as a store clerk at a gas station in Indianapolis. He was shot dead on February 27 around 10.30 pm. His body is likely to arrive on Friday or Saturday.

The Indianapolis police have shared the surveillance video of the store in which the incident has been captured. Avtar Singh, deceased’s father, said: “Maninder had gone to the US on a tourist visa nine years ago and didn’t return. He had told us that he will get the PR this year. He used to work at a store there. On February 27, a man with his face covered entered his store with the motive of robbery and opened fire on Maninder, killing him on the spot. Maninder had suffered bullet injuries on his arm and near his neck. The government should make early arrangements to bring back the body of my son.”

As per the information some relatives of Avtar, a retired policeman, are also settled in the US and are likely to reach here with Maninder’s body.

Meanwhile, Ambala Deputy Commissioner Ashok Sharma said: “The family hasn’t contacted us yet but the matter has come to my notice and I have asked Naraingarh SDM to contact them. The family will be provided all possible help by the administration.”
