Commissioner and Secretary of the Animal Husbandry Department, and Sports Department, Vijay Dahiya inspected the VLDA College being constructed at Lakhnaur Sahib village, on Thursday.

He was accompanied by the officials of the PWD (B&R), Animal Husbandry and other departments.

Dahiya directed the departments to ensure better coordination and resume the pending work so that the facility could be made available as soon as possible.

During the inspection, Dahiya also obtained detailed information about the work to be carried out on priority. He also inspected the existing buildings and issued directions related to maintenance.

He advised that the work on the VLDA Hospital/clinic, and administrative block/academy should begin in the initial phase. He also urged that the safety standards of the buildings be checked before resuming these projects.

The project missed its deadlines due to delay in work, litigations and irregularities, following which the agreement of the construction firm was terminated. As per the PWD (B&R) officials nearly 70 per cent of the civil work was completed and the fresh tender for the balance work is yet to be floated.

Later, Dahiya also visited the football ground at War Heroes Memorial Stadium, Ambala Cantonment, and enquired about the progress of works related to the football ground. He also enquired about the facilities being made available here for the players. He also visited the gymnastics hall and the all-weather swimming pool.

On the occasion, he told the officials of the Sports Department that along with the sports facilities available here, they should plan introducing new games like netball and archery.

Ambala Cantonment SDM Vinesh Kumar and several officials of the sports, department were present on the occasion.
