Anti-drug campaign reaches 25 lakh people, targets large-scale suppliers

Haryana’s fight against drug abuse has gained massive public engagement, with the #NashaMuktJeevanBucketChallenge reaching 25 lakh people. Simultaneously, the Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau (HSNCB) has intensified its crackdown, arresting 475 drug peddlers and registering 321 FIRs in January alone.

The campaign, which aims to engage one crore people by June 26 — International Day Against Drug Abuse — has seen enthusiastic participation from students, athletes and social influencers. The digital initiative has transformed into a grassroots movement, spreading awareness across schools, colleges and communities.

Law enforcement has also shifted focus from small-time dealers to large-scale drug suppliers. January saw a 113% increase in major drug trafficking cases, with 47 commercial quantity seizures. Eleven major traffickers have been detained under the PIT-NDPS Act, and the government has set a target to detain 100 repeat offenders this year.

Officials emphasised that this multi-pronged approach —combining community participation, digital engagement and strict enforcement — is helping disrupt drug networks and create awareness on a large scale.
