Anti-Narcotics Cell holds awareness programme in Radaur town

A team of the Anti-Narcotics Cell held an awareness programme and made 150 persons aware about the ill-effects of drug abuse and also how it can be prevented.

Chamkaur Singh, a police spokesperson, said under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Rajiv Deswal, police teams of all police stations and police posts of the district were making the general public aware about the ill-effects of drug abuse.

He said in the series, Jaswinder Singh, in-charge of the Anti-Narcotic Cell, made the general public aware about the prevention of drug abuse at Maharana Pratap Park Chowk in Radaur town of Yamunanagar district.

In-charge, Jaswinder Singh said the district police were organising awareness camps to make the general public aware against drug abuse.

“Consumption of drugs like alcohol, opium, ganja and other items can be very harmful for our lives. The side effects of drug abuse have direct impact on our physical and mental health. Excessive consumption of these drugs have a bad effect on various parts and organs of the body as well as on the mind,” said Jaswinder Singh.

He said drug abuse was a problem that was spreading in society and its side-effects were deeply affecting the individual, family and society.

“To avoid the ill-effects of drug abuse, we should understand our responsibilities and adopt a healthy lifestyle. To prevent the ill-effects of drug abuse, society should cooperate and spread awareness against drugs,” said Jaswinder Singh.

He said the identity of the informer would be kept secret.
