The Haryana Vidhan Sabha on Wednesday unanimously passed a resolution urging media platforms to refrain from glorifying gangsters and criminals.

The resolution came during a discussion on an adjournment motion moved by the Opposition on the state’s law and order situation. Members expressed concern over the growing trend on certain social media platforms of projecting criminals as role models.

Moving the resolution on behalf of the government, Development and Panchayat Minister Krishan Lal Panwar said, “Glorifying criminals projects their image as heroes in the minds of the youth. This trend not only weakens the cultural and moral fabric of society but also undermines the tireless efforts of the police force, which works day and night to maintain law and order.”

The House further resolved that all media institutions must avoid publishing names or photographs of criminals and gangsters. Instead, platforms should consciously discourage such content and promote personalities and ideas that inspire the younger generation to embrace education, hard work and truth.
