Nirmal Singh said, “The party is in a strong position and we are confident that the Congress will form the next government in Haryana. During the ‘Haryana Mange Hisaab’ campaign we have been raising the local issues with the public and making people aware of the wrong policies of the BJP. People are not happy with the BJP and they will vote for change.”

However, not only the City segment but Nirmal Singh is seeking the ticket of the Ambala Cantonment constituency too for his daughter and Congress leader Chitra Sarwara. However, the other aspirants believe that the party would not give two tickets to one family.

To a query he said, “The exercise to select the candidates is still on. We can’t stop anyone from applying but the party will give ticket on the basis of the surveys, and winnability element. There is no such boundation that the party can’t give two tickets. We have been working hard in Ambala City and Ambala Cantonment and we are hopeful that the party will give both tickets to us.”

Similarly, Himmat Singh, who is also eyeing the party ticket, held a Savidhan Samman Sammelan in Ravidas Basti on Sunday to showcase his strength. His supporters have been running door-to-door campaigns and corner meetings to garner support for Himmat in the city constituency.

Himmat Singh said, “We are holding regular meetings with the party workers and the public to strengthen the party’s position. During the door-to-door campaigns and public meetings we are raising the issues of pending projects, poor drainage, wrong policies and also telling them about the promises of the Congress party. We have been getting tremendous support from the field. I am confident that the party will give me an opportunity to contest the election and with the support of the people of Ambala City we will win the seat for the party.”
