Former Union Minister and Hamirpur Member of Parliament (MP) Anurag Thakur today called upon the people of Shahabad to vote for the BJP candidate to eradicate drug menace and ensure the development of the Shahabad assembly segment.

Addressing a public meeting in support of party candidate Subhash Kalsana, Thakur accused the Congress of spreading false information and making false promises to grab power in states.

Thakur said, “During the assembly election in Himachal Pradesh, the Congress made tall claims and promises, but failed miserably. It had promised to Rs 1,500 per month to women, free bus service, 300 power units and remunerative prices for apple, but nothing has been done by the Congress there. Meanwhile, the BJP has delivered its promises in Haryana.”

Taking a swipe at former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda, he said, “In an attempt to set his son, Bhupinder Singh Hooda will leave Haryana upset. Land of farmers was grabbed during Bhupinder Hooda’s regime and farmers even failed to get adequate compensation for their losses. The Congress did nothing to implement the recommendation of the Swaminathan report, while the BJP government started a number of initiatives for farmers, provided subsidies and procured crops on the minimum support price (MSP).”

Terming the Congress anti-Dalit, Thakur said, “The Dalits of Haryana have not forgotten the atrocities against them under the Congress regime. We all have also seen what they did to Ashok Tanwar and Kumari Selja. The Dalits are not going to vote for the Congress. After atrocities, the Gandhi family wants to end reservation too, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured that he will not let reservation end.”

He also slammed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his alleged remarks about Sikhs in the US, and said, “Rahul Gandhi defames the country abroad and makes statements regarding our Sikh brothers. Let me remind the Congress and Rahul Gandhi about the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and Operation Bluestar and how Sikhs were killed. The BJP has always given respect to the Sikh community.”
