The 111th birth anniversary of former Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhary Devi Lal was celebrated on Wednesday with great reverence. The Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) national president, Ajay Singh Chautala, and several party leaders gathered at the Chaudhary Devi Lal Community Park, where they offered floral tributes to the statue of the revered leader near Chautala House.

Addressing the gathering, Ajay praised Chaudhary Devi Lal for his lifelong dedication to the welfare of farmers and the working class. He said despite holding the highest political offices, including that of the Deputy Prime Minister, Chaudhary Devi Lal always prioritised the needs of the common man. His policies, aimed at addressing the struggles of the marginalised, set a standard for governance not only in Haryana but across India.

Ajay highlighted that one of the most significant contributions made by Devi Lal was the works undertaken by him to improve the lives of the senior citizens by introducing the highest pension scheme in the state. His landmark decision to waive farmers’ debts during his tenure provided much-needed financial stability to rural communities. These visionary policies, Ajay said, had since been adopted by other states.

Reflecting on his legacy, Chautala urged the younger generation to learn from Chaudhary Devi Lal’s values of simplicity, integrity and dedication to public service. “Each one of us should strive to imbibe these qualities in our lives, making it easier to lead a life of purpose and service to others,” he said. JJP’s Sirsa candidate Pawan Sherpura, alongside other local leaders, echoed the sentiment that Devi Lal’s values continue to inspire the party and the state.
